Getting started
Do I need an account to try it?
No. Open the app and start typing. The editor, all four templates, the live preview and the pricing maths work straight away, and your draft autosaves to your browser so you can close the tab and come back to it.
An account is only needed for two things: saving proposals to the cloud, and buying Pro.
Is there anything to install?
No. It runs in the browser. There is no desktop app, no extension and no mobile app to download — the site is responsive, so it works on a phone if you need to correct a number between meetings.
What are the offer templates?
Four common freelance engagements, each pre-filled with realistic line items, rates and a timeline: a conversion website sprint, a brand starter kit, a monthly content retainer and an SEO launch plan. They are starting points — change every number if you want.
Where is my draft stored before I sign up?
In your own browser's local storage, on your own device. It never reaches the server until you create an account and save. That also means clearing your browser data clears the draft, and a draft on your laptop is not visible on your phone.
Free vs Pro
What exactly is behind the paywall?
Three things:
- Saving and syncing proposals to your account
- Print / PDF export
- Follow-up email drafting
Building, pricing, previewing and branding a proposal is free, with no limit on how many you make.
Is the free tier a trial?
No. It does not expire, it does not count down, and it never asks for a card. If the free tier is all you need, that is a perfectly good outcome.
Can I get the PDF another way without paying?
Honest answer: your browser's own print function exists and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What Pro gives you is a print stylesheet built for the proposal specifically — no sidebar, no buttons, no browser chrome — plus saving and follow-ups. If all you ever need is one rough printout, the free tier is fine.
What happens to my proposals if I cancel?
You keep read and delete access to everything you already saved. Cancelling stops you saving new proposals to the cloud; it does not hold your existing work hostage. That is deliberate.
Billing
Who handles the payment?
Stripe, entirely. You are redirected to Stripe Checkout, pay on their hosted page, and return to the app. Card details never reach our server and are never stored by us.
Why does Pro take a few seconds to switch on?
Stripe confirms the payment to our server separately from redirecting you back, so for a second or two after you land the account has not been told yet. The app polls for the update and unlocks itself as soon as the confirmation arrives — you do not need to refresh.
How do I cancel?
Account → Manage billing in the app, which opens Stripe's customer portal. Cancel there. You can also change your card and download past invoices from the same place. No email to us needed.
Will I be warned before renewal?
Your account panel shows the exact renewal date while Pro is active, and Stripe emails you a receipt for every charge. At $9/month there is no annual surprise to warn about.
Data & accounts
Do you track me?
There are no analytics scripts, no ad pixels and no third-party trackers on this site or in the app. The only external services involved are Stripe, when you actually go to checkout, and our email provider, only when you ask for a password reset link.
Can you see my proposals?
Saved proposals are stored on the server in order to sync them to you, so they are not end-to-end encrypted and an administrator could technically read the database. They are not shared, sold or used for anything else. Do not put information in a proposal that you would not put in an email.
I forgot my password. Can you reset it?
Yes. In the app, open Create account, switch to Sign in and click Forgot your password?. We email a link that works once, for one hour. Setting a new password signs out every other device, so if someone else knew the old one they lose access too.
How do I delete my account and data?
Email support@usescopepilot.com from the address on the account and it will be deleted, along with the proposals attached to it. Self-serve deletion is on the list.
The product itself
Does it send the proposal to my client for me?
No. ScopePilot produces the document and drafts the follow-up; you send both from your own email, from your own address. Deliverability, threading and the client's trust in the sender all work better that way.
Can the client sign or approve in the app?
Not currently. Proposals end with a clear reply-to-approve instruction and a deposit figure, which is enough to close most freelance work. E-signature is a genuine possibility later, not a hidden feature now.
Can I use my own logo instead of my business name?
Not yet — the proposal header uses your business name, positioning line and reply-to email as styled text. Image upload is not built.
Multiple currencies?
Amounts are currently formatted as US dollars. If you price in another currency this will look wrong, and it is a known limitation rather than a decision.
Still deciding? Just open the editor.
It costs nothing and takes no signup to see whether the output is the quality you'd send.
